The American Library Association (ALA) announced the literary award winners including the Caldecott, King, Newbery, and Printz awards at the midwinter meeting in Philadelphia. View the ALA 2008 Literary Award Winners.

Choice's Outstanding Academic Titles for 2007 with reviews are now available within the Midwest Database option of InterACQ.  There are almost 600 titles that reflect the best of the scholarly titles reviewed by Choice in 2007.  These select titles are bestowed the extraordinary recognition of the academic library community.

InterACQ Enhancements
Enhanced security that allows the user to log off InterACQ.  A timeout feature has been added to log off the user after a selected number of minutes of inactivity.  The user now has the capability to change the log on password.

An improved interface for viewing invoices and tracking shipments.  The user can select 3, 6, 9 or 12 months of shipment history.  Also, the tracking numbers are better associated with each shipment.  Shipments are shown in alternating background colors.

Multiple incoming messages that are over 30 days old can be deleted at one time.

InterACQ now supports submission of multiple ISBNs for creating order transactions. ISBNs can be entered online or submitted from files created offline.

InterACQ now supports Midwest's new EOPS program. Monographs known to be out of print can be submitted through InterACQ for immediate OP searching.

The University Press Titles for Public Libraries has been added to the Midwest Database.

Support for Standing Order accounts including:

  • view up to seven years of activity
  • view standing orders we offer
  • view activity detail, including invoices, for the past year
  • optional branch descriptions can be added to the Standing Order Inquiry
  • send messages directly to your Midwest Standing Order Representative

A link in Express Entry to view/order from the 2006 American Library Association Literary Award Winners

Each user has the capability to place orders into separate order groupings. Individual orders can be moved from within these order groups. Order groups are available in Midwest Database, Express Entry, and New Book Selection Service. The Process or Confirm Transactions option allows selection based on Order Groups.

InterACQ Enhancements

Receive Weekly NBSS Notifications based on a user defined profile.  Notifications may be sent through Email or InterACQ.  Administrators may allow users to place orders from the notifications.  NBSS profiling now includes non-subject areas such as place of publication, binding type, price and CIP status.

LC Subject Classification selection screens have been redesigned to provide an improved interface.  For approval users, the Forthcoming titles option now includes LC Subject selections.

A new menu subgroup, Account Activity, was added to the Main Menu. These menu options pertain to your order activity with Midwest.

Access your FTP folders through an easy to use web interface. The FTP Folders option displays a drop-off folder for sending orders and a pick-up folder for retrieving invoices, MARC loader files and full MARC records.

Order Status contains links for Invoiced titles to display PDF invoices and tracking information.   The View Invoices option allows you to view a twelve month history of  invoices and tracking information.

While placing orders, a Default Settings window provides an easier method to set field defaults.  Color coded field descriptions identify the fields that have defaults set. Duplicate order checking now includes Title checking as well as ISBN.

The Confirm Transactions listings can be displayed on a per user basis.

Users can be notified by e-mail when their transactions were confirmed by the Administrator.  The Administrator can be notified by e-mail when there are pending transactions to be confirmed.

The ISBN-13 is now displayed on the Midwest Database detail page. It is also supported during searching in both the Midwest Database and Express Entry options.

The InterACQ user setup has been streamlined through a new User Maintenance option.

New Book Selection Service (NBSS) is available online with enhanced features including Profiling, Ordering and Printing

MARC Record Loader Files are available for the Innovative, Endeavor and Sirsi acquisitions systems

Database titles can be isolated by their semi-annual catalog date

While ordering through InterACQ, instant checking of the library’s pending orders and against orders sent to Midwest within the past twelve months allows for notification of duplicates.

InterACQ orders submitted to Midwest appear immediately on the Order Status page.

When using the MARC Loader option, new fields appear at the time of ordering. These fields are Location and Internal Comments.  The Express Entry and NBSS options also include Volume.

Comments has been renamed Vendor Notes

The Midwest Database now offers additional filtering by Subject Added Entries

Sci-Tech and Choice records now contain Dewey Number, Subject Added Entries, Due Date, and Publication Year

The LC Subject filters are based on the 7th Edition of the LC Classification Outline

InterACQ's Order Status feature has been enhanced with a Reply link for orders requiring a response from the library before Midwest can take further action. Making these Reply Required Status Reports available on InterACQ expedites order processing and leads to a reduction in fulfillment times.

An updated user's manual for InterACQ is now available from the Menu. Just click on the Adobe PDF icon to read the manual on screen. Updates to the manual will occur as new features and enhancements are incorporated into InterACQ.

InterACQ now supports Claiming and Canceling of Open orders and allows for the Reinstatement of canceled orders. These features work in conjunction with the Order Status option, which must be activated before these additional features can be accessed.

We are pleased to announce another InterACQ enhancement. The Order Status option provides information about the open, invoiced, and canceled orders you have placed over the past twelve months. These orders were received through InterACQ, your acquisitions system, U.S. mail, email or were placed directly with your Library Service Representative.

The Order Status option is active on the Supervisor's menu and may be activated for other users through the Supervisor's User Profile Maintenance menu item.

As part of our ongoing program to enhance and improve InterACQ, Midwest Library Service is pleased to announce recent changes.

InterACQ now utilizes a much improved and faster search engine.

The Express Entry page provides keyword searching.

InterACQ, Midwest Library Service's on-line web-based collection management, selection, and ordering tool is evolving and we want to bring it to your attention. The new menu is the first change you will notice. It is always visible on the left side of the screen. Also, InterACQ's search functions have been enhanced and allow author, title, and keyword searching throughout all of our databases. Additionally, we have changed the software that runs the InterACQ system, providing for more selective and responsive searches. And most importantly, InterACQ is ready to offer new features over the coming months. Through InterACQ you will have access to your current and retrospective order information, including order status, as well as the ability to generate claims and cancellations. Look for these and other features in 2003.

Although InterACQ has changed, your existing access to InterACQ remains unchanged: you should continue using the same user name and password as you have in the past. And if you have a confirmation password, it remains unchanged too. If you are unable to log on to InterACQ, please contact your Library Service Representative to renew your access.
