Preface
Recently published books going out of print concerns all libraries. Midwest Library
Service offers selection tools which help the library identify and purchase valuable new
books while they are readily available. Our semiannual University Press Catalog
provides concise information on university press titles soon to be published. Prompt
delivery after publication is assured when these items are ordered from Midwest Library
Service.Scope
Our catalog encompasses the major university presses (including Cambridge, Oxford, and
Toronto) as well as many other publisher imprints distributed by these major presses. A
complete list of the major presses is included.
The annual output of these presses is approximately 10,000 new titles per year. A profile is employed
to assist the library in maintaining its focus, thereby receiving information only in the
disciplines that are of interest to the collection.
Format
Printed Slips: Each slip includes a descriptive summary, and titles are sorted in
your choice of title, author/title, publisher/title, subject/author or subject/title for
easy distribution to various department heads, subject specialists, and librarians. We
provide this catalog as a book selection and ordering tool for libraries not currently
desiring an approval plan.
Internet Records: Midwest Library Service's web-based InterACQ site
provides timely access to all titles in our University Press Catalog. Each record includes
